DARKTIMES, a medieval royale fighting game, leverages the Sui blockchain to enhance Web3 player engagement and asset ownership.
According to the Sui blog, DARKTIMES, a medieval fighting royale game, has launched on the Sui blockchain, promising to revolutionize Web3 player engagement and asset ownership. In development since 2021, DARKTIMES uniquely combines RPG elements and multiplayer fighting to create a dynamic gaming experience.
A world filled with immersive action
The game features several maps rich in lore, with evocative names like the Coast of Bone and the Plains of Gold, each filled with their own unique populations, legends, and dangers. Players start out as peasants and build up their skills and equipment to become champions, improving their character’s progression and identity.
DARKTIMES also features a variety of characters for players to choose from, including The Old Man, The Mammoth, The Huntress, The Noble, and The Exotic. More characters will be introduced in future seasons, allowing players to personalize their gameplay with their chosen skills and gear. The game also features a magic system based on elemental powers, adding another layer of strategy to melee combat.
Sui Blockchain Integration
Utilizing the Sui blockchain, DARKTIMES integrates digital assets such as $TIMES tokens, Genesis NFTs, and various in-game cosmetic items. These assets are created as objects on the Sui network, which players can own, trade, and even modify. The $TIMES token serves as the game’s currency, used to compete in the top leagues and trade items between players.
Genesis NFTs act as a ticket to higher prize pool levels, while cosmetic NFTs allow players to personalize their characters. The mutable nature of Sui’s NFTs enables a crafting system, further enhancing ownership and customization. Sui’s high-performance network ensures sub-second transaction times, which are critical for smooth gameplay.
Interesting release
DARKTIMES will begin with a 20-day social engagement campaign, Rune Run, starting August 30, 2024, followed by an alpha test in November. There will also be a live play test at Korea Blockchain Week. Early players will have the opportunity to acquire Genesis NFTs and experience the game’s unique lands and player-versus-player combat.
