DevConnectThe week-long Ethereum ecosystem and community gathering concluded its second event in Istanbul. This week, more than 3,500 participants from diverse backgrounds gathered at Devconnect Cowork in Istanbul Congress Center from 13 to 19 November. 70+ in-depth events Organized by an independent team from the Ethereum community. Events were held in various locations across the city and beyond to celebrate the breadth and depth of the Ethereum ecosystem.

I’d like to give a shout out to all the independent organizers, volunteers and all attendees who participated, discussed and contributed.
A week of learning, sharing, and developing
At its core, Devconnect focuses on the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. As a gathering created by and for the community, many teams in the ecosystem have organized independent events focused on their respective Ethereum expertise. Key topics range from layer 2 scaling solutions and programmable cryptography to real-world applications, demonstrating the diversity within the Ethereum ecosystem and community. One of the notable technologies used in Devconnect ticketing is Jupas – An open source tool built by developers from the Devconnect and Zuzalu communities. Zupass allows you to generate ZK proofs, for example to verify attendance at an event.
Devconnect IST has brought together a global community and sparked the real-world connections that are so important to the decentralized ecosystem. The backgrounds of Cowork attendees were diverse, including developers (33.7%), entrepreneurs (19.4%), researchers (11.6%), marketers (5.8%), and designers (2.4%). This mix of backgrounds and expertise has created a unique environment for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Local influence and global connections
A unique aspect of Devconnect this year was the incredible participation of the local Turkish Ethereum community. The majority of all Devconnect Cowork attendees were locals from Turkey, making them the largest group, accounting for 17.5% of all attendees. events such as ETH day And DEVCON is not IT Blockchainthe largest blockchain club in Istanbul, emphasized the importance of local communities and sparked connections between local and global communities.

Looking back on the success of Devconnect IST 2023, it is clear that this event is part of a larger evolving trend within the decentralized ecosystem. In Devconnect’s unique format, Zuzalu and Zuconnect (taking place just before Devconnect in Istanbul) represents a new paradigm in the decentralized ecosystem. It’s about coming together for a week or more to collaborate and make real progress on the challenges we face.
