Is a game without bots still a game? Pixel CEO doesn’t think so
Some people believe that bots in games are a sign of the apocalypse, or perhaps their creators are just trying to fill a void to gain popularity.
But Pixels founder and CEO Luke Barwikowski says, on the other hand, if people aren’t trying to populate their games with bots, it’s probably because games aren’t exactly the hot topic.
“If people aren’t trying to bot a game, it’s not because they can’t, it’s because they don’t care enough to play it.”
According to Barwikowski, if you make a bot-free game and show it off, that’s not something to brag about.
“It’s not always flexible to say there are no bots in the ecosystem,” he asserts.
To be fair, bots do offer some perks, such as reducing gamer’s waiting time and guaranteeing an opponent every time they start a game. But bots are starting to take over.
Last November, bot prevention company Jigger discovered 200,000 bots after analyzing more than 60 games and services.
Approximately 40% of all GameFi users are bots, reaching 80% for certain titles such as MetaGear, AnRkey X, and ARIVA. And prepare your mind. For Karma Verse Zombie, that’s an incredible 96%.
Web3 Games: An Easy Choice for Cryptocurrency Companies to Blame
Web3 Games has come under a lot of criticism recently, with criticism that its sky-high failure rate and many of its games aren’t all that fun.
CoinGecko recently highlighted that three out of four blockchain games have failed since 2018. A whopping 70% of games released this year failed. Nonetheless, their numbers are unusual, putting the failure rate for 2022 at an incredible 107%.
But Kieran Warwick, co-founder and president of Illivium, has no doubts about the numbers. He told Magazine that making a Web3 game is no walk in the park like launching a memecoin.
“It is said; it is difficult for a game to succeed,” he says. “It requires a combination of fantastic gameplay, huge funding and effective marketing,” he asserts.
Although he agrees with the public that NFT games are disappointing.
“Add the need to create a sustainable economic model using cutting-edge blockchain technology, and almost every game released is subpar and its chances of success decrease again.”
Fortunately, Warwick believes there is a clock that can tell when the crazy failure rates in the Web3 Games Report will change.
“Good games take a long time to make. “In the next few years, when games that have been in development for three to five years start to be released, feelings will change quickly,” he asserts.
Warwick believes there will be no magic moment when everyone will ditch their regular games for Web3. He suggested it wasn’t rocket science. Here’s the simple logic for when the switch happens:
“Once gamers experience blockchain games that are as good as their mainstream competitors and take ownership of their assets, they won’t go back to playing the games they used to play,” he says.
Meanwhile, cryptocurrency analyst Miles Deutscher recently told his 383,000 followers that cryptocurrency gaming is still a small segment of the vast world of gaming. But this means there is much more potential.
“The overall gaming space is expected to reach $610 billion by 2032. The current value of cryptocurrency games is only $14.5 billion. This is a discrepancy of 42 times. “We are still too early.”
Hot Take: Galaxy Fight Club
Galaxy Fight Club is a PvP fighting game built on the Polygon blockchain. The amount of time it takes from downloading the game to being able to immediately jump into chaotic online shooting with random players is quite impressive.
Matching into a game was similar to joining a game of Call of Duty or Battlefield.
You can dip your toes in as a guest, get a feel for the game, or go all in by creating an account linked to your cryptocurrency wallet.
If you’re sitting on some NFT character, you can take that character into a brawl.
However, it is unfortunate that you cannot communicate with other players on the same team. Sometimes, when you’re fighting a virtual war, it feels like you have to decipher the thoughts of the characters on screen.

Not to be too picky, but the attack button is a little off-center. Your thumb may feel a bit awkward, especially if you’re used to playing shooting games on a smaller iPhone.
The developers are comparing it to Super Mario Bros, but instead of fighting Pikachu alongside Mario, you’ll be fighting against Ape from the Bored Ape Yacht Club or Cool Cat, who the game throws in with Cryptopunk.
But don’t stress if you don’t have an NFT. You can start with a basic character and level up from there.
I’m actually playing the game to try and win some NFTs for myself. It looks like my original NFT is stuck in my MetaMask account on my lost phone and I can’t trace the seed phrase.
Totally rookie move.
Luckily, it’s very simple to get your hands on an NFT when you win a match.
If you win, you will get a Silver Key Piece. By combining these, you can also earn loot chest keys to unlock virtual weapon and armor NFTs.
Even better, you can cash them out when you eventually get bored with the game. Everything from loot, keys, and even fragments can be sold on OpenSea or other NFT marketplaces.
