ElevenLabs, known for its advanced text-to-speech (TTS) technology, has partnered with WorkHaven to improve access to recovery resources for survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV). Through the Verdella program, the partnership aims to overcome language barriers by providing audio guidance in nine languages, according to ElevenLabs.
Breaking down language barriers with AI
The Verdella initiative, managed by WorkHaven, provides essential support to DFV survivors, helping them on their journey to recovery. Recognizing the challenges posed by language differences, ElevenLabs leveraged cutting-edge speech technology to create audio content for Verdella’s nine modules. Initially available in English, these audio files are designed to provide personalized guidance to participants, facilitating a more personalized recovery experience.
Multilingual expansion
As part of a major expansion effort, Verdella’s audio resources are now available in eight additional languages: Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. This multilingual initiative is made possible through a partnership with 2M Language Services, which ensures certified translations that maintain the integrity and efficiency of the program.
Impact on Survivors
This strategic move will allow a wider audience to access Verdella’s resources in their preferred language, potentially increasing engagement and effectiveness. By making these resources available in multiple languages, ElevenLabs and WorkHaven not only improve accessibility, but also help survivors navigate the recovery process more easily and confidently.
ElevenLabs’ collaboration with WorkHaven highlights the transformative power of AI technology in addressing societal challenges, especially in providing critical support to vulnerable communities. As the program continues to evolve, it sets a precedent for how technology can be leveraged to bridge gaps in access and support.
