Famous celebrities returning to cryptocurrency?
It’s probably too early to tell, but in one of the most spectacular examples of a megastar promoting cryptocurrency in recent times, accepting money to be a brand ambassador for a cryptocurrency company has fallen out of favor following the FTX debacle. Eminem said of his voice: Crypto.com’s new TV commercial.
Posted by Eminem Advertisement on X On Friday, I simply wrote: “You know it’s always been that way.”
In a statement, Crypto.com said of the ads:The cryptocurrency exchange will debut at Saturday’s Lakers NBA Playoffs game at Crypto.com Arena.” The cryptocurrency exchange will also link its service with advertising at other sporting events, including the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and upcoming UFC events. It appears to be a plan.
The slogan previously used by Crypto.com, “Fortune Favors the Brave,” is also emblazoned across the screen. Actor Matt Damon famously appeared in a Crypto.com ad with the same slogan, making him the butt of an episode-long joke about South Park in 2022. After being ridiculed, Damon later revealed that the reason he advertised was for a water charity.
“Crypto.com has become one of the most recognized global brands by partnering with iconic people, places and events,” said Steven Kalifowitz, CMO of Crypto.com.
Major celebrities promoting cryptocurrencies have been fairly rare since famous people like Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, and Larry David pocketed money to promote FTX before the exchange collapsed and its founder later went to jail.
