welcome to this week eth2 quick update! A handful of new eth2 testnets have come online and I’ve had them for the past week. All running on my laptop. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it is becoming a reality :).

Lighthouse launches testnet with mainnet configuration.

Nimbus integrates the default nim-libp2p.
Earlier this year, the Ethereum Foundation, Protocol Lab, and Status We jointly funded a grant to Nimbus. To create a native nim language libp2p implementation. this implementation It was intended to be integrated into the nimbus eth2 client as well as a p2p networking option for devices with limited resources.

We’re excited to see several client implementations onboarding to help create a common interface for external software to query and understand the internals of eth2. These and other tools will be invaluable for monitoring, understanding, and interacting with the upcoming testnet and ultimately mainnet!
Eth2 specification release schedule
The eth2 specification version has been released. v0.9.3 — rm signature_root and have v0.9.4 Test fixes and network updates are in the queue. This is the last one. v0.9.x A series of minor updates since the phase 0 freeze was lifted in October. These recent specification releases have primarily focused on ensuring that Phase 0 beacon chains are flexible enough to accommodate: New level 1 sharding design, but some cleanups, bug fixes, improved testing, and networking updates were also included in the changelog. Many of these changes have been informed and driven by ongoing client progress on testnet and general preparation for mainnet.
The next expected release date is early January. this v0.10.0 The release will be dedicated to the integration of: Addition of new BLS standard to core eth2 specification. that much v0.10.x A series of releases with production-grade BLS will be the subject of a final testnet and ultimately mainnet release. There is still work to be done, but heroic efforts across all fronts are underway to address it. Thank the client team (or money/tips/etc!).
