According to a recent announcement by Ethereum educator Anthony Sassano, Ethereum developers have identified a list of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that will be incorporated into the Pectra upgrade. Among the notable EIPs are EIP-7702, EIP-7594 (PeerDAS), and EIP-7251 (MaxEB).
EIP-7702, proposed by a group of Ethereum developers including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, aims for improved account abstraction, allowing addresses to act as smart contracts during transactions.
EIP-7702 replaces EIP-3074, a previously proposed improvement by the developers. EIP-7702 is expected to provide similar benefits as EIP-3074 while addressing potential risks.
Meanwhile, EIP-7594, or PeerDAS, aims to improve rollup scalability. A key aspect of this proposal is optimizing layer 2 (L2) solutions such as Base and Arbitrum. Transaction processing for L2 is expected to improve.
Additionally, EIP-7251 or MaxEB allows validators to stake up to 2,048 ETH, a significant increase from the current limit of 32 ETH.
The upgrade also includes EOF-related EIPs, EIP-2537 and EIP-7549, which focus on encryption improvements and efficiency.
“We are also considering including record expiration into Pectra,” Sassano added.
Sassano expects Pectra on Ethereum to launch in the first quarter of 2025, similar to the schedule recently announced by Ethereum developers. This upgrade follows the Dencun upgrade successfully deployed in March.
Sassano said Pectra will be a landmark milestone in the Ethereum development roadmap.
“Pectra, the next Ethereum network upgrade, will be the largest in Ethereum history,” Sassano said.
