The Ethereum Protocol Fellowship recently completed its fourth successful cohort, concluding its EPF Day at Devconnect in Istanbul. Its completion marks four months of immersive learning, research, and contribution to the Ethereum core ecosystem from a talented and dedicated group of colleagues. To learn more about EPF, take a look at some of these: last post and Storage.
EPF4 statistics
Applications for the 4th cohort opened on June 2, 2023. After reviewing over 400 applications, 35 participants were paid. Additionally, five retroactive allowances were paid to unauthorized participants. Over the course of four months, fellows had the opportunity to work with 27 key developer mentors from a variety of clients and research teams within the ecosystem. Their work was reported regularly in nearly 600 weekly updates.
EPF4 project
In total, fellows proposed and contributed to 35 projects, some of which are still active. These projects are not only valuable learning experiences, but can also represent meaningful contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem.
All resources for the program can be found at: EPF4 storage. From there, you can see all the activity in your cohort, plus check out project resources, development updates, and notes from your colleagues. Not only is the project a contribution to FOSS, but all work done within the cohort is fully public and a real part of Ethereum’s open research and resources.
But it’s not all about work and contribution. One of the important aspects of EPF is the opportunity to meet many inspiring people involved in key developments. During Devconnect in Istanbul, more than half of the cohort gathered to participate in EPF Day. project presentationWe offer panel discussions and social time.
Ethereum Protocol Fellowship Research Group
We learned some important feedback at the end of Cohort 4. Despite the focus on protocol development training during the EPF, the learning curve for aspiring core developers is still very steep. Based on this feedback, we launched a pre-cursor program called EPF. EPF.wiki has become a place for aspiring core developers to learn about the technical aspects of Ethereum and contribute to the wiki to enhance their knowledge.
Next cohort coming soon™️
As our research group draws to a close, we are preparing for the fifth cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship. Those interested in Ethereum Core development should stay tuned for application announcements in early May. Join EPF to receive notifications. mailing list.
Meanwhile, you can prepare your application by ensuring a basic understanding of the Ethereum protocol (the EPF research group is a good place to start) and contributing to open source projects through your GitHub account, especially existing projects in the Ethereum ecosystem. . And think about the types of projects you want to work on.
