Scammers are luring people into releasing their seed phrases into their cryptocurrency wallets by promising free NFT airdrops or NFT vouchers.

Users of cryptocurrency hardware and software wallets such as Ledger, Trezor, Exodus, and Trust Wallet find a message in the app saying that an NFT has been airdropped to their wallet and that they must click a link to claim it.

Following the URL will take you to a page asking you to enter your wallet seed phrase to verify ownership before receiving your ‘gift’.

However, revealing the 12-24 passphrase will give the scammer full control of your cryptocurrency wallet and you will quickly notice your funds being drained into wallets controlled by the scammer.

The NFT futures are claimed to come from AGIX.

One of the latest NFT scams claims to have been sent from a platform called AGIX and an extension associated with airdrops. I won’t detail the exact URL here.

It is important to note that genuine AGIX is a utility token used by SingularityNET, a platform that aims to create “decentralized, democratic, inclusive and beneficial artificial general intelligence.”

The AGIX NFT scam has absolutely nothing to do with this platform or any tokens associated with it.

The scam platform’s landing page is designed to replicate the real SingularityNET website and can easily fool anyone unfamiliar with the importance of keeping the seed phrase private.

The fake platform claims that “75,000 eligible Wallers” received the airdrop, with a ‘Claim Reward’ button underneath it.

Clicking the button will trigger a pop-up window asking visitors to enter a seed phrase to secure their reward.

Don’t reveal your seed phrase

If you receive a message like this from your cryptocurrency wallet, you should delete it immediately rather than clicking on the link.

Additionally, the AGIX NFT scam is just one of hundreds of scams operating at any given time, so look for variations of the scam using different brands, platforms or offers.

Any platform that asks for your seed phrase is a scam. This information should never be given to anyone else or transmitted online.
