Foxconn accelerates production with NVIDIA Omniverse and opens new facilities in the U.S., Mexico, and Taiwan to increase efficiency through digital twin and AI integration.

Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, is expanding its production capacity by opening new factories in the United States, Mexico, and Taiwan, according to the NVIDIA blog. The company is streamlining the process of bringing these facilities online by leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse, a platform for developing industrial AI simulation applications.

Improving production with digital twins

Foxconn uses NVIDIA Omniverse to virtually consolidate facility and equipment layouts, optimizing these layouts in a digital twin environment before any physical changes are made. This approach is expected to deliver significant cost savings, especially in Mexican facilities where kilowatt-hour usage reductions of more than 30% per year are expected.

AI-based robotics and efficiency

Additionally, the company is using Omniverse and NVIDIA AI to build AI-powered robotic factories and create digital twins that drive integration of facility and equipment information across industry-leading applications such as Siemens Teamcenter X and Autodesk Revit. These digital twins will help identify optimal placement of cameras and other equipment and streamline operations with the help of Metropolis visual AI agents.

Robotics Simulation with Omniverse

Foxconn’s digital twin serves as a virtual proving ground for autonomous robots and industrial manipulators. NVIDIA Isaac Sim allows companies to simulate, test, and validate AI models of robots before deploying them in real-world scenarios. The process involves simulating scenarios on an assembly line using the Isaac Manipulator library for tasks such as automated optical inspection and defect detection.

Building a resilient supply chain

Foxconn aims to replicate precision production lines globally by leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse and AI. This strategy allows the company to quickly deploy high-quality production facilities that comply with uniform standards, strengthening its competitiveness and adaptability in the market. The new facilities in Mexico and Taiwan are scheduled to begin production early next year and in December, respectively.
