GamerHash AI and Golem partnership
In a recent announcement, Golem, a pioneer in distributed computing, said it is collaborating with GamerHash AI to develop a Windows AI Provider. This solution is designed to facilitate sharing GPU resources for AI computation. However, AI Windows providers do not accept the rental of virtual machines with GPUs, so their functionality is limited to running AI calculations only.
Why develop an AI Windows provider?
The development of the AI Windows Provider aims to support AI computation by connecting GPU resources. The partnership with GamerHash AI allows Golem to leverage the gaming community’s GPU resources to provide the infrastructure the AI industry needs. Gamers represent the broadest consumer segment for GPUs, and leveraging these resources could potentially enable unlimited scaling of AI computation in Golem.
Who can use the AI Windows Provider?
AI Windows Provider is primarily aimed at gamers who use PCs with GPUs and are interested in making money by renting out their computers. However, it also provides value to standalone AI/ML developers and small teams, as well as AI/ML-based SaaS companies and startups, including founders, CTOs, AI/ML operations, data scientists, and data engineers.
Technical aspects of AI Windows providers
Golem’s AI Windows provider will represent a significant change from existing Linux providers. Instead of dealing with command line scripts, users are provided with a Windows GUI application that provides a simpler way to manage nodes. Recognizing that the standard virtual machine ExeUnit is not the best fit for the current Windows environment, Golem is developing specialized ExeUnits to handle specific AI tasks. The request does not directly access the provider’s computer. Instead, they are routed to the framework, increasing the security of the provider while limiting the flexibility of the requester due to the lack of common computation.
Benefits for Users
Users of the AI provider earn money in the form of USDT as their payments are processed by GamerHash AI. In addition to financial incentives, users will participate in the AI revolution and contribute to the development of the AI industry and the ecosystem of the decentralized Golem Network platform. For users of the Golem network (requesters) who leverage the computing power provided by AI providers, the biggest advantage is the low cost of AI infrastructure and the ability to perform large-scale AI calculations.
Connectivity with AI providers and other AI/GPU projects
Due to potentially higher user adoption, AI providers are expected to offer more computing power than GPU providers. All planned services and applications can take advantage of this feature. Except for the Rent GPU application, which allows you to rent virtual machines with GPUs but cannot use AI provider solutions. Golem plans to complete the project’s proof of concept in the second quarter, complete the MVP version in the third quarter, and conduct beta testing with GamerHash community users. The release is scheduled for the fourth quarter.
