With the school holidays approaching, many Britons are feeling stressed about packing for their trip. According to the latest census, packing is a significant pain point. Almost a third (32%) of Brits take time out from work to pack their bags, and more than a quarter (28%) describe the task as causing them significant anxiety.
AI support for packaging
To alleviate this stress, Google launched Gemini, an AI assistant designed to help you pack. Available for both Android and iOS, Gemini can create personalized packing lists based on details you provide. The same survey highlighted that almost a quarter (23%) of Britons tend to overpack, a problem Gemini aims to solve by streamlining the packing process to include only the essentials.
How Gemini Works
Users can enter their destination, airline, and travel dates into Gemini. AI then generates a packing list tailored to the weather, baggage allowance, and planned activities. For example, a user might ask, “What should I pack for a two-week trip to Bodrum in economy on a low-cost airline?” “To avoid additional costs, you must pack your clothing, including swimsuits, street tops, and liquids, in your carry-on bag.”
Gemini can give you tips on how to pack light and help you organize an itemized list of clothing and other items you need. Google has also launched the ‘Gemini Packing Squad’ in the UK, a team of packing experts who travel around the country to help people use Gemini to prepare for their holidays.
Streamlined vacation preparation
With Gemini’s help, vacationers can focus more on the enjoyable aspects of travel planning rather than the stress of packing. The AI tools can be accessed through the Gemini app on Android or the Google app on iOS. More details can be found on Google’s official blog.
