Greg Solano, co-founder of Yuga Labs, will succeed Daniel Alegre as CEO of the company.
Alegre, the former COO of Activision Blizzard, has been in the role for about 10 months. Yuga Labs, creator of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection and ApeCoin (APE), has acquired notable NFT projects including CryptoPunks, 10KTF, Meebits, and most recently the PROOF collective’s Moonbirds NFT project.
Solano’s initiatives as CEO include establishing a Yuga subsidiary dedicated to the Bored Ape Yacht Club, strengthening communications about the Otherside metaverse and an impending third playtest, and developing additional game projects aimed at the mass market.
The leadership transition comes as the Bored Ape Yacht Club faces stiff competition from its recent Pudgy Penguins project. surpassed Lowest price on Bored Apes.
