The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has warned the public about fraudulent websites and phishing emails impersonating Dasing Bank.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning to inform the public about fraudulent websites and phishing emails impersonating Dah Sing Bank, Limited, according to a press release from the bank. These fraudulent activities have been reported to the HKMA.

Details of fraudulent activity

The HKMA stressed that fraudulent websites and phishing emails aim to trick individuals into providing sensitive personal information under the guise of legitimate banking communications. The authority stressed that banks, including Dah Sing Bank, do not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks to customers requesting them to conduct transactions or provide personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords (OTPs).

Public advice

HKMA advises anyone who has shared personal information or made financial transactions through fraudulent websites or phishing emails to immediately contact Dah Sing Bank using the official contact details provided in the press release. In addition, affected individuals should report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Branch Information Centre at 2860 5012.

HKMA’s ongoing efforts

This alert is part of the HKMA’s ongoing efforts to protect the public from financial fraud and cyber threats. The authority regularly updates its website with information on various fraud and fraud schemes targeting consumers and financial institutions. The HKMA also works with local banks and law enforcement agencies to mitigate the risks associated with such fraudulent activities.

Related Developments

In recent months, there has been an increase in phishing attempts and fraudulent websites targeting financial institutions in Hong Kong. Authorities are stepping up cybersecurity measures and public awareness campaigns to combat these threats. The latest warning from the HKMA highlights the importance of vigilance and prompt action to protect personal and financial information.
