Notification of fraudulent website
HKMA (Hong Kong Monetary Authority) has announced warnings about the scam site and Internet banking login screen that prevails in China’s Minsheng Banking Corp., LTD. According to HKMA, only these platforms have been reported and are currently under investigation.
Public advice
In the vulnerable, HKMA emphasized that banks will not send SMS or emails that include a hyperlink that instructs the user to the website for trading purposes. Sensitive personal information such as passwords or OTPs (OFFS) should not be shared via telephone, email or SMS including links containing links.
Measures for individuals affected
Individuals who provide personal information or transaction through a fraud platform must contact the bank by directly contacting the bank using the official contact details and reporting the case to the Hong Kong police. The Criminal Wings Information Center can contact 2860 5012 for such a report.
