The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has warned the public about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating Livi Bank Limited, urging them to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning about a fraudulent social media account impersonating Livi Bank Limited. According to the HKMA, this fraudulent account has been reported to the authorities and poses a significant risk to the public.

Fraudulent account details

The HKMA highlighted in a press release that fraudulent social media accounts are misleading users by pretending to be affiliated with Livi Bank Limited. The HKMA urges the public to remain vigilant and not engage with suspicious social media accounts.

HKMA also stressed that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks that direct users to the bank’s website to conduct transactions. Furthermore, they will not ask for sensitive personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords via phone, email or SMS.

Public advice

Any member of the public who has interacted with a fraudulent social media account or provided personal information is advised to contact Livi Bank immediately using the contact information provided in the official press release. They should also report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Commission Information Centre at 2860 5012.

For further details, please refer to the official press release on the HKMA website.

The HKMA continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to be aware of potential fraud and scams.
