The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has warned the public about fraudulent websites and phishing messages linked to Mox Bank Limited.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning about fraudulent websites and phishing messages impersonating Mox Bank Limited. This warning was issued in response to several reports to the HKMA regarding such fraudulent activities.

Fraudulent activity targeting Mox Bank customers

According to the HKMA, fraudulent websites and phishing messages are designed to trick individuals into providing sensitive personal information such as login passwords and one-time passwords (OTPs). These scams often use embedded hyperlinks that direct victims to fake banking websites where data can be stolen.

HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks, including Mox Bank, will never send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks to conduct transactions. Banks also will not request sensitive personal information through these channels.

Action steps for affected individuals

Any individual who suspects that they have provided personal information or made financial transactions through such fraudulent websites or messages should immediately contact Mox Bank using the contact details provided in the official press release. They should also report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Information Centre (2860 5012).

The HKMA’s warning serves as an important reminder for the public to remain vigilant against online fraud and to verify the authenticity of any communication purporting to be from their bank before taking action.

For more information, please visit the HKMA official website.
