The Hong Kong Monetary Authority is warning the public about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens linked to DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an important warning about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens associated with DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. This warning comes as part of the HKMA’s ongoing efforts to protect the public from increasing cyber threats targeting banking customers.

Fraud confirmed

According to the HKMA, several reports have emerged of fake websites and login screens that appear to be part of DBS Bank online services. These scam sites aim to trick users into revealing sensitive personal information. The HKMA informed the public of this threat through a press release published on its website.

public consultation

In light of these developments, the HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks, including DBS Bank, do not send SMS or emails containing links directing customers to carry out transactions. Additionally, the bank will never ask for sensitive information such as login credentials or one-time passwords via phone, email or SMS.

Action for Affected Individuals

Individuals who suspect that they have interacted with or provided personal information to these fraudulent sites are advised to contact DBS Bank immediately using the official contact details provided in the bank’s press release. You should also report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Crime Branch Information Center at 2860 5012.

broader meaning

This warning highlights the ongoing challenge of cybersecurity threats in the banking sector and highlights the need for continued vigilance by both financial institutions and their customers. As cybercriminals become increasingly sophisticated, regulators such as the HKMA play a critical role in disseminating timely information to protect the public.
