mix mob, SolanaThe game-based gaming brand announced Thursday that it is adding the Stormtrooper character from ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ as a character. NFT COLLECTABLE AND PLAYABLE CHARACTERS racer 1 game A game that combines racing and card-based strategy. But there are some interesting nuances to this licensing deal.

The licensed character is actually the iconic Stormtropper from the original 1977 sci-fi film, but the deal wasn’t brokered by Disney or Lucasfilm or anyone representing them. Instead, a deal was struck with Shepperton Design Studios and original ‘Star Wars’ prop creator Andrew Ainsworth.

Ainsworth designed the familiar white armored soldiers from the original film. Decades later, Lucasfilm began producing and selling replica helmets based on his design, mobilizing lawyers to spark a years-long legal battle. When all was eventually completed, Ainsworth secured limited rights to commercialize the design.

This is the “Original Stormtrooper” character seen on MixMob. This isn’t a Disney contract or a play on the broader “Star Wars” license, but it is actually an official Stormtrooper design from the prop creator who brought it to life in the first place.

A MixMob representative confirmed to Decrypt’s GG that the game studio cannot use the Star Wars brand, and that in this case the deal is limited to armor designs from “A New Hope.”

Still, it’s a memorable entry from a major pop culture franchise featured in an NFT game that aims to deliver a taste of ‘remix culture’, and the studio says it plans to bring other licensed characters and content to MixMob for mobile versions. . The game is scheduled to debut in the second quarter of 2024. MixMob aims to announce three additional license integrations this year.

Sales details for the Stormtrooper NFT have not yet been released. Owners of MixMob’s Gen0 Masks and Gen0 MixBots NFTs will be granted “priority access” to Mint, according to the team.

MixMob’s Solana-based governance token, MXM, is up nearly 15% on the day, hitting a price of more than $0.10 per data. CoinGecko. Token debuted on February 1st Airdrops to reward early players and NFT ownersIt hit an all-time high of $0.1136 last week.
