I2 Group is partnering with Chainalysis to integrate cryptocurrency insights into its intelligence platform, improving the ability to track illicit activity using blockchain data.

I2 Group, a renowned Intelligence Analysis software provider, announced a strategic partnership with Chainalysis, a leading blockchain data platform. The collaboration aims to strengthen I2’s link analysis platform, Analyst’s Notebook, by integrating Chainalysis’ cryptocurrency insights to better identify, predict and respond to criminal, terrorist and fraud activities. Integrations enable I2 Group and Chain Analytics clients within the public sector to seamlessly integrate blockchain data into their investigative processes.

Addressing cryptocurrency blind spots

Prior to this partnership, I2 Group Analyst’s Notebook users primarily relied on off-chain data from third-party sources, such as geospatial data. However, the increasing prevalence of cryptocurrencies in various forms of crime, including national security threats, fraud and organized crime, has highlighted the need for more comprehensive data. The integration of chain analysis data through official connectors allows analysts to merge diverse datasets with on-chain cryptocurrency data, providing enhanced insights into illicit activities and addressing critical blind spots in financial investigations.

Kevin O’Brien, President of Chainalysis Government Solutions, highlighted the growing need for law enforcement and intelligence agencies to understand illicit flows on blockchain as cryptocurrencies become more integral to the global financial system. He said, “The combination of Chainalysis’ on-chain data and I2’s link analysis platform represents a significant advance in our mission to arm public sector agencies with the comprehensive blockchain insights they need to uncover complex illicit networks.

Jamie Caffrey, Vice President of I2 Group, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, adding that integrating on-chain data into the platform will significantly enhance the capabilities of users, especially in the public sector. Improving data and research quality.

Integrated Data Partnership

Chain Analytics customers can now purchase the Research API and integrate directly into their I2 analyst notes by entering their API key. This integration allows users to securely and efficiently access combined datasets to enhance investigative capabilities.
