For over a decade, Kraken has helped usher in a new era in finance by providing a secure way for users to engage with the world of cryptocurrency. Today, that mission goes one step further on-chain with Ink, an OP Stack Layer 2 (L2) blockchain that provides security and safety for cryptocurrency enthusiasts to participate in the world of DeFi.

And developers, we want you to be a part of it.

Ink Testnet Overview

This invitation will be launched on the Ink Testnet.

Testnet is an instance of the mainnet used for testing and research purposes. Here, developers can deploy new products, find bugs, and find vulnerabilities without putting real assets at risk.

The Ink testnet runs on Sepolia, an Ethereum proof-of-stake test network that mimics the functionality of the mainnet. Sepalia is the recommended testnet for Ethereum developers and is supported by the Ethereum Foundation.

Our testnet simulates the future Ink mainnet environment. It has a block explorer, a ready-to-use RPC endpoint, an easy-to-use bridge to connect Sepolia ETH to Ink, and a lot of other typical infrastructure found on the mainnet.

We invite you to try it. Here are some resources to get you started:

How to View Ink Testnet on Kraken Wallet

Kraken Wallet supports integrated multi-chain access to all enabled networks by default. The Ink testnet is fully supported in the latest version of Kraken Wallet.

To add the Ink Testnet ETH token to your Kraken wallet asset list, complete the following steps:

  1. Update Kraken Wallet to the latest version from the App Store.
  2. Log in to your Kraken wallet, go to Assets and tap Manage.
  1. Find Ethereum – Sepolia Testnet in the drop-down menu or type Eth in the search bar and select Ethereum – Sepolia Testnet (look for the Ink logo to make sure you choose the correct one).
  1. Return to the home screen and find ‘Ethereum – Sepolia Testnet’ in the asset list.

The Ink Testnet ETH token has now been added to the list of assets in your Kraken wallet. There is no need to switch settings to use the network.

How to add Ink testnet to MetaMask

Complete the following steps to add the Ink testnet to your MetaMask wallet.

  1. Log in to your MetaMask wallet, go to Networks and tap Add Network.
  2. Click Custom Network and add the following information:
  3. Tap Add
  4. A screen with the Add Custom Network header will appear. Tap the blue button that says OK at the bottom.
  5. A screen will appear with a header stating that a new network has been added.

The Ink testnet has now been added to the MetaMask wallet. You can switch between them as needed.

How to connect Sepolia ETH to Ink

To connect your Sepalia ETH to the Ink testnet, follow these steps:

    1. Get Sepalia ETH at one of the available public faucets.
    2. Send the corresponding Sepolia ETH to L1StandardBridge contract address: 0xC0d337f71aD19a8f17a1b297cDb3a86c5EEf9Eec.

Ink op nodes automatically select L1 transactions and process them into L2 state. Once the process is complete, you will be able to see your Sepalia ETH on the Ink testnet.

Let’s write the future together in ink

Testnets provide a valuable opportunity for interested developers to test their code, and Ink is no different. Inspired by Kraken’s commitment to security and innovation, Ink will strive to lead the future of finance one decentralized application at a time.
