IoTA prepares a recurrence main net upgrade on May 5, 2025, promising to smooth shifts that do not require token migration. The main details and stages are described by the IoTA Foundation.
The IoTA Foundation has announced the rebassed mainnet upgrade, which will be held on May 5, 2025, which is a recent upgrade to display a new IoTA network in a recent Stardust network.
Token holder smooth transition
For IoTA token holders, the transition promises to be smooth without token migration. The user only needs to load the existing wallet only to the new system. IoTa Foundation emphasizes the importance of safe exporting wallets private keys, nimonic phrases or base files for untrusted access to assets after upgrade.
New tools and wallets
Existing Firefly wallets are replaced by new browser extension wallets that can be used on the day of launch. The IoTA wallet dashboard app also provides improved asset management. Except for the ledger nano, the ledger hardware wallet maintains support when a user installs a new IoTA ledger app.
Exchange and network preparation
The exchange that supports IoTA will suspend deposits and withdrawal during the upgrade, but transactions will continue. This service is expected to resume immediately after completion. The upgrade includes an IoTA Foundation and a 12 -effective test, ensuring transparent and proven migration processes.
Genesis consciousness and network release
The upgrade is conscious of Genesis, and a series of steps will establish the foundation of a new network. This includes exit the Stardust Mainnet, take a ledger snapshot, and create a Genesis Checkpoint. The validity test is checked and signed to ensure consensus and transparency.
Environment after upgrade
After the upgrade, the IoTA EVM resumes its operation and allows perfect interaction through Metamask and the new IoTA EVM Bridge web app. The Validator Network will initially be released with 13 validated tests and plans to expand to 150 in the next few months, encouraging token holders to delegate token holders to increase distribution.
Infrastructure and ecosystem support
Infrastructure, including RPC endpoints and APIs, can be used immediately after launch with a document for developers. Distributed applications are expected to be followed soon. IoTA Foundation hosts discussions and updates through community and builder discord and X space, inviting stakeholders to participate in these variants.
