Generative AI: A game-changing technology for the security industry
Founders of prominent security startups recently highlighted the potential impact of generative AI in the tech industry. The discussion took place on the AI+a16z podcast with insights from Command Zero’s Dean De Beer, Doppel’s Kevin Tian, and Resourcely’s Travis McPeak.
Building with Large Language Models (LLMs)
The founders discussed their experience handling LLM-based threats and building LLM. They highlighted the complexity of the process and the various considerations when selecting and operating large-scale language models.
LLM Operations: A Complex Process
De Beer compared the performance of large-scale language models to the perceived waiting time of an elevator. He explained that as the use case becomes more sophisticated and more data is attached, the inference time changes. Despite the fact that it may take longer than you would like to produce results, the entire process is still much faster than doing the job manually.
Generative AI: A double-edged sword
While generative AI offers numerous benefits, it also presents new challenges. This includes Threat Handling based on LLM. However, the founders emphasized that understanding these threats and learning how to manage them is key to unlocking the full potential of generative AI in the security industry.
