Lenovo announced the launch of an innovative eye tracking device designed to improve accessibility for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), according to ElevenLabs. This new technology aims to empower ALS patients by providing them with advanced tools for communication.
Advances in voice AI technology
At the launch event, ALS disability advocate Erin Taylor introduced the Lenovo president and demonstrated the device’s capabilities. The technology allows users to communicate using their own voices, a significant improvement over previous voice banking methods that lacked emotional depth. Now users can leverage advanced voice AI to recreate their unique vocal tone and maintain their personal identity.
Collaboration with key partners
Lenovo’s eye tracking device integrates D-ID’s avatars and IrisBond’s precise eye tracking technology, making it accessible and user-friendly. The key partner in this project is ElevenLabs, famous for its cutting-edge voice AI solutions. The goal of this collaboration is to help people with ALS regain their voices and communicate authentically.
Continuing the legacy of innovation
These developments are consistent with the vision of Dr Peter Scott-Morgan, who advocates using technology to remove barriers for individuals with severe disabilities. Thanks to recent technological advancements, this vision is becoming a reality, providing new hope and possibilities for ALS patients.
Continuous development and testing
The project continues under the stewardship of the Scott-Morgan Foundation (SMF), which is dedicated to improving tools to meet the real-world needs of ALS patients. SMF aims to make a real difference to the lives of people affected by ALS by continuously testing and improving its devices.
