After specifying the range Spectra Forksuccessful interoperability With events and four devnets, we are now launching Mekong, our first short-term Pectra testnet!

The Mekong River testnet includes all future proposed EIPs. Spectra Fork On Ethereum. These changes include UX changes through: EIP-7702Change staking via EIP-7251Change deposit and exit mechanisms by: EIP-6110/ EIP-7002 And more. You can find a complete list of EIPs and their implemented specifications. here.

Mekong will be a playground for wallet developers to experiment with UX changes and for stakers to gain confidence in the upcoming changes. The testnet is short-lived and fully functional with all intended EIPs. Spectra. We may see some minor spec changes or smaller EIPs, but the features included here will make their way to the existing public testnet and eventually the Ethereum mainnet.


Getting started

To start using the Mekong River, landing page. From here you can add networks to your browser wallet, view the block explorer, request funds from Faucet, and connect to the JSON RPC endpoint.


This upgrade includes some UX-related EIPs, and I’m really excited to see how the wallet utilizes them. So, we encourage you to experiment with the changes and provide us with your feedback. You can find answers to frequently asked questions. here.

run node

Please follow the guide here To run a node on the Mekong testnet. Similar to the Ethereum mainnet, you will need to run execution and consensus layer nodes.

striker

Pectra has some major changes to its staking workflow, and the Mekong testnet will be the first place to try them out. Deposit and withdrawal methods have changed, please refer to the FAQ. here Please read for more details FAQ Find information on how to activate a validator on Mekong.


How will this affect the Ethereum Mainnet, Holesky or Sepalia?

no. Mekong is a new testnet and will not affect other Ethereum networks. However, testing on the Mekong will inform the deployment of Pectra upgrades on other Ethereum networks.

What do I need to do as a non-staking node operator?

Mekong is a new testnet, so you don’t need to do anything if you’re running a node on Holesky/Spolia or Ethereum Mainnet. However, if you want to run a node on the new network, use the instructions and version of the Ethereum client listed in the link. here.

What should I do as a staker?

“What do I do as a non-staking node operator?” See section. First, run node. You can then make deposits and run validators on the new Mekong Network.

What should I do as an application or tool developer?

Application and tool developers should review upgrade changes to ensure that fixes have been completed or to understand how to use newly introduced features.

Wallet developers should specifically review upgrades to EIP-7702 to ensure the latest features are supported.

Why “Mekong River”?

Devcon, which precedes the Pectra upgrade, will be held in Southeast Asia. We wanted to choose a name that resonated with this place. The Mekong River, which flows through several countries in Southeast Asia, seemed like the perfect choice.
