Google is notorious for discontinuing products, even if they are popular, but claims that the tech giant is shutting down Gmail are simply not true.
The deliberate hoax began unsurprisingly. on twitterThis may or may not have been a joke, in the form of screenshots of the announcement that were immediately splashed across the service with the help of several popular accounts.
Attempts to quell the scam came quickly, but not fast enough to stop “Gmail” from trending all over Twitter and quickly spreading to other social media platforms such as Facebook.

The seeds of today’s hoax were planted last fall when Google announced it was discontinuing low-bandwidth viewing of Gmail. But today, the tech giant pull back Unexpected results when depicting people led to the launch of the Gemini AI image generator.
Both stories are utilized together for comedic effect.
But what makes the Gmail termination scam the most credible is how quickly Google approaches the ax when it comes to its products and services. So much so that there are several “Google graveyard” websites tracking the digital body count. In fact, while the Gmail rumor was spreading today, Google was busy telling the world that Google Pay was going away.
