In a groundbreaking partnership, NVIDIA and IQVIA join forces to develop domain-specific AI technologies aimed at transforming healthcare and life sciences. According to NVIDIA, the collaboration is focused on creating custom-based models and agent AI workflows to enhance research and clinical development.
Strengthening clinical trials with AI
The goal of this partnership is to leverage IQVIA’s vast healthcare data and NVIDIA’s AI capabilities to increase the efficiency of clinical trials and optimize the launch of new treatments and medical devices. The plan is expected to result in better patient outcomes by streamlining processes and shortening the time required for clinical trials, which currently averages about 11 years.
IQVIA will leverage Connected Intelligence combined with NVIDIA’s AI Foundry service to create language- and multimodal-based models. These models power a suite of custom AI agents designed to execute specific tasks within clinical workflows, such as site selection and participant recruitment.
NVIDIA AI Foundry: A Key Enabler
IQVIA plans to develop these AI agents using the NVIDIA AI Foundry platform along with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software. This includes the use of NVIDIA NIM microservices and the Llama Nemotron and Cosmos Nemotron model families to facilitate the creation of custom generative AI solutions.
NVIDIA AI Blueprint for Multimodal PDF Data Extraction helps IQVIA develop domain-specific applications leveraging valuable medical information stored in a variety of formats. Additionally, the NVIDIA RAPIDS data science library accelerates knowledge graph construction, further enhancing the capabilities of these AI systems.
This collaboration is an important step toward responsible use of AI in healthcare, with a focus on privacy, compliance, and patient safety. By automating complex tasks such as document creation and patient recruitment, the partnership aims to free healthcare professionals to focus on strategic decision-making and patient care.
