NVIDIA announces the 800 V HVDC power infrastructure set for a revolution in the AI data center to improve the efficiency and scalability of future demands.

Due to exponential growth on artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, data center power requirements are increasing significantly. Traditional power distribution methods, such as the 54V rock system, are inappropriate for the upcoming Mega Wat -scale racks designed for modern AI plants. To solve this challenge, NVIDIA has announced a shift to the 800 V high voltage direct current (HVDC) architecture, which aims to support 1MW IT rack and more data centers from 2027.

Challenge of current power system

Existing AI data centers rely heavily on 54 V DC power distribution, which includes carrying electricity using a large copper bus bar. This method is less executable as the rack surpasses 200 kilowatts due to spatial constraints and excessive copper. The single 1 mW rack requires a copper of up to 200 kg, emphasizing the non -efficiency and sustainability of the current system.

800 V HVDC: The Future of AI Factory

NVIDIA’s 800 V HVDC architecture provides a simplified solution by minimizing energy conversion and reducing the number of power supply. This new system improves reliability, lowers heat dissipation, and improves energy efficiency. The architecture also reduces copper usage, allowing better voltage stability and reducing material costs.

Cooperation efforts for innovation

NVIDIA is leading the adoption of this innovative power infrastructure by working with industry leaders such as Infineon, Stmicroelectronics and Schneider Electric. This initiative aims to increase reliability and reduce infrastructure complexity by establishing high -efficiency and expandable power delivery systems adjusted to the next -generation AI workload.

Efficiency and expansion

The 800 V HVDC system supports racks of more than 1MW at 100kW, so it can be completely expanded. Compared to the current system, it improves the end -to -end efficiency of up to 10%and greatly reduces copper use and heat loss. This architecture is designed to meet the demands of evolving data centers and ensure future prevention expansion.

Batch problem solving

In the past, high voltage DC architectures faced adoption, but the convergence of AI -centered rack density and the development of power conversion are changing the scenario. NVIDIA and its partners are actively solving safety, standards and human resources education to facilitate 800 V HVDC deployment at the facility level.

(https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/nvidia-800-VDC-HVDC-HVDC-Will-Power-power-be-price-ai-Factories/) Full -scale production of HVDC data centers is expected to match the launch of NVIDIA Kyber Systems’ NVIDIA SYSE SYSETEGION. The AI model is increasingly required and guaranteed sustainable growth in the sector.
