NVIDIA introduces Omniverse Blueprints, which simplifies real-time digital twin creation with advanced physics solvers and supports engineering innovation across a variety of industries.

NVIDIA announced the release of Omniverse Blueprints, a groundbreaking tool designed to simplify the development of real-time physical digital twins. These blueprints are set to revolutionize the field of computer-aided engineering (CAE) by allowing engineers to instantly observe and modify designs, accelerating the innovation process across industries as diverse as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and more.

Challenges of digital twin development

Real-time digital twins (RTDTs) present significant engineering challenges, primarily because they require the integration of a variety of software tools into a cohesive workflow. These tools include advanced physics solvers, design applications, and visualization modules, all of which must operate with minimal latency to achieve real-time performance. NVIDIA’s Omniverse Blueprints aims to solve these challenges by providing independent software vendors (ISVs) with a reference workflow that integrates NVIDIA’s high-performance libraries, physical AI framework, and interactive visualization capabilities.

Industrial applications and collaboration

Leading software developers such as Ansys, Cadence, and Siemens leverage these blueprints to enhance their CAE solutions, enabling faster product visualization and analysis. This collaboration is expected to significantly reduce development costs and time to market, thereby securing competitiveness in the rapidly changing manufacturing sector. For example, Luminary Cloud, a member of the NVIDIA Inception program, leveraged Omniverse Blueprint to create a cloud-based GPU-accelerated virtual wind tunnel, demonstrating the Blueprint’s effectiveness in advancing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.

Blueprint architecture and AI integration

Omniverse Blueprint is a comprehensive software solution that includes reference code, deployment tools, and customization guides to facilitate rapid deployment of AI solutions. This flexibility allows developers to tailor their workflow to their specific needs by modifying or replacing components with third-party solutions. Blueprint’s architecture seamlessly connects 3D scenes rendered with the Omniverse API to simulation AI to create interactive CAE workflows. We also integrate NVIDIA Modulus, a physics-ML framework, to train AI surrogate models for real-time fluid flow prediction.

Deployment Flexibility

Blueprints can be deployed in both on-premises and cloud environments, including NVIDIA DGX Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This flexibility allows companies to integrate blueprints into existing workflows or develop new applications to fit their unique needs.

future prospects

In addition to current applications, NVIDIA is working with Rescale to expand Blueprint’s capabilities to more industries. This blueprint promises to further advance the development of real-time digital twins by providing software developers with the ability to adapt and integrate into their workflows. As the industry continues to pursue innovative solutions to complex engineering problems, NVIDIA’s Omniverse Blueprints are poised to play a pivotal role in the evolution of digital twin technology.
