Open Campus Announces Sale of Major Nodes for EDU Chain
Animoca Brands, Sequoia Capital and Binance, announced the upcoming sale of major nodes on the EDU chain. The education-focused blockchain is preparing for a public sale following a pre-sale, with more information expected to be released in June, according to the company’s press release.
EDU Chain: Blockchain solution for education
EDU Chain is Open Campus’ layer 3 blockchain designed specifically for education. It aims to overcome current issues in the education system by improving access and quality of education. By storing educational data and achievements on blockchain, learners gain full control and ownership of their academic records. The system also enhances recognition and rewards for educators.
Key Node: Network Protection
The primary node acts as a verification node in the EDU chain, ensuring the authenticity of transactions before they are confirmed on the blockchain. Selling key nodes allows participants to participate in a decentralized education ecosystem where new ways to learn, own, and earn unlocked through Web3 technology.
Reinventing education through blockchain
Yat Siu, co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands and EDU Foundation Council member, highlighted the benefits of EDU Chain. ‘Open Campus seeks to reimagine the education ecosystem to be more inclusive, equitable and accessible. We believe that blockchain technology can unlock significant opportunities for learning, earning and education globally,’ Siu said.
Jonah Lau, portfolio director at Animoca Brands, also praised EDU Chain. “This initiative places us at the heart of the rapidly growing $3 billion blockchain education market and initially targets the more than 20 million learners already in Open Campus’ partner network,” Lau said.
Main Node Sale Details
The EDU Chain’s primary node sale is structured to encourage early participation through a tiered approach, with node prices rising tier by tier over multiple tiers. Leading node operators receive a portion of sequencer fees in return for their help validating transactions on the EDU chain. Nodes become transferable one year after sale. Pre-sale and public sale dates will be announced in June 2024.
