Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy criticized the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Chairman Gary Gensler, and the country’s regulatory framework. Couldn’t keep a bad actor down.

“Scammers, criminals and terrorists have been deceiving people for a long time,” Ramaswami said during last week’s presidential debate. “Our regulations must keep up with the current moment. The fact that SBF (Sam Bankman-Fried) was able to do what he did at FTX shows that whatever they have as their current framework is not working.”

Gensler cannot say whether ETH is a security or not

Ramaswamy criticized Gensler for not being able to explain whether Ethereum is a security during the hearing, saying he was “embarrassed by nothing.”

During a congressional hearing in April, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry repeatedly questioned the SEC Chairman about the security status of Ethereum.

Ramaswamy also said the “administrative state” had gone too far. “The people we choose to run our government are not the people who actually run our government. “It’s the bureaucrats of these three-letter agencies who write regulations that Congress never gave them the authority to write.”
