In June we introduced codeReconstructing the R & D team of the Ether Leeum Foundation to match the current strategic goal, Scale L1,,, Scaleand UX improvement Without compromise on our devotion to Ether Lee’s security and hardness.
In the next few weeks, we will post updates for each work stream to cover progress, new initiatives, public questions and collaboration opportunities. We look forward to a follow-up to Scale L1 — Scale Blobs today and soon improves UX!

Serious Geth-ING for L1 Scaling
Scaling Ether Lee Rim needs to adjust engineering pragmatism and ambitious design. We have been appointed to help we achieve our guy. Marius Van Der Widen Co -lead in Scale L1 with ANSGAR Dietrichs and Tim Beiko.
Marius’s extensive engineering experience for Geth combines with his promise to protocol security perfectly to meet Ethereum’s constraints.
ANSGAR, Marius and Tim defined the main initiative sets that can expand L1 as soon as possible.
100m Mainnet Net Gas Limits
Our immediate goal is to safely expand the Mainnet gas limit of Ethereum to 100m per block. Parithosh jayanthiWe are leading our work with close support from the Nethermind’s Perfnet team. Each gradual increase.
Recently Berlin Terop EventThe client team has greatly improved the worst performance benchmarks to increase to 45m gas.
In addition, customer hardening has become an essential part of 100m gas initiative. The PECTRA upgrade rollout emphasized some problems caused by network instability. Even if the network temporarily loses its finality, it is most important for customers to maintain a strong state as the process increases.
History expiration
Historical expiration project MattReduce the past data footprints of Ether Leeum node. Recent distribution Partial history expiration Remove the pre -management history data to save the entire node about 300 ~ 500GB of disk space. This allows you to run comfortably with 2TB disk.
Based on this, we will continue to block historical data beyond the current fixed holding period. This allows you to manage the node’s storage demands despite the Ethereum scale.
Block level access list
Block Level Access List (BALS) Toni WahrstaetterIt is emerging as a leading candidate included in the Glam Store Upgrade. BALS offers some important benefits.
- Enable parallel transaction execution in the block.
- Enhance the parallel calculation of the state route, greatly increase the block processing speed.
- Prelim up the required state at the start of the block to optimize the disk access pattern.
- It improves the entire node synchronization efficiency to help new and storage nodes.
This improvement strengthens the ability of Etherrium, which can stably handle higher gas limitations and faster block processing.
Benchmarking and price
The continuous task of Scaling Ether Lee is to adjust the gas cost of the EVM operation with the overhead cost. The performance of the worst edge case limits the current network throughput.
By improving the benchmark infrastructure and improving the infrastructure operation that the client cannot optimize, the block execution time can be made more consistent. Closing the gap between the worst case and the average case block can greatly increase the gas limit.
ANSGAR Dietrichs provides direct information by comprehensive benchmarking of Perfnet, leading efforts to focus on intervention of target benchmarking and engineering to identify and solve many computing bottlenecks. In particular, significant progress was made after be Clean Terrop in managing the worst computing scenario.
at the same time Carlos Perez Spearheads Bloatnet: Initiative that benchmarks and optimizes state performance. This tests the node performance under the condition of the status size, doubling the gas limit of the current main net and 100-150m to inform the summary and client optimization.
These two efforts will provide additional L1 scaling by homogenizing resource costs throughout the operation to the GlamsterDam EIP proposal.
ZKEVM prove customers
Today, Etherrium Nod runs all transactions on the block when receiving all transactions. This is calculated and expensive. To reduce this calculation cost, the Ethereum client can instead check the ZK proof of the execution of the block instead. To make this possible, the evidence of the block must be created in real time. It’s closer and closer.
Kevaundray Wedderburn Assuming that there is real -time evidence, we are leading the work of ZKEVM lawyers who are used to perform the work of the validation test.
When the prototype prepares the main net, it will be released as an optional verification mechanism. We expect a small node group to adopt this year next year, giving you confidence in robustness and security.
After that, Etherrium nodes can gradually switch to ZK -based verification and eventually become the default. At this point, L1’s gas limit can increase significantly. Beast mode!
RPC performance and recruitment
As throughput increases, other node types (execution, consensus, RPC) face a clear challenge. The RPC node has increased pressure by conducting a wide range of historical and real -time status requests.
Internally, the Geth and Pandaops teams of the EF are actively studying the optimal configuration of various nodes. We expect to increase in the next few years and want to raise knowledge of this area.
To do this, we are actively hired Performance Engineering Lead. The application is closed August 10th. If we are as excited about L1’s scaling, we want to hear your opinion!
