- Sleep introduced a decentralized voting system.
- The voting system is limited to a specific group of users.
- These users cannot transfer their voting rights.
Slerf, a Solana-based memecoin project, today announced the launch of a decentralized voting system for SLERF NFT holders.
Slerf rose to fame after a failed launch in March of this year, when the project’s developers “accidentally” burned through $10 million of pre-sale funds due to “a simple, pointless click.” The misfortune ended when the crypto community came to the project’s aid, and the market cap shot up to over $750 million in a matter of hours.
Slerf DAO Voting System
According to an August 17 post on X (Twitter), the Slerf DAO voting system is now live, allowing SLERF NFT holders to influence the future direction of the project by voting or submitting proposals directly via Discord.
The project clarified that each NFT represents one vote within the DAO proposal, and that the holder cannot transfer his/her vote to another person when sold.
“Each NFT can only be used to vote once. This means after you transfer your NFT to another wallet after voting it cannot be used to vote again. This goes for sales as well,” the project wrote on its website. “Votes cannot be changed.”
This approach is expected to encourage community engagement and participation by allowing NFT holders to directly participate in key decisions. This comes after Slerf recently announced that it will offer NFTs that can be minted exclusively on OKX’s multi-chain non-fungible token marketplace.
