The Starknet Foundation, the organization behind the Ethereum layer 2 blockchain Starknet, has established a Gaming Council to strengthen gaming on the network. The Commission has set aside $125.5 million worth of tokens to fund gaming initiatives.
Promotion of gaming ecosystem
The Gaming Committee’s primary role is to analyze, strategize, and recommend programs to expand Starknet’s gaming ecosystem. We plan to achieve this by encouraging developers to create games on Starknet and encouraging players to participate in these games. Key metrics for success include daily active users, retention rate, and revenue.
Committee Members and Goals
The committee consists of six members, including Henri Lieutaud, head of developer relations at Starknet, Chris Lexmond, founder of Unstoppable Games, and Gabin Marignier, co-founder of Focus Tree. Their goal is to drive adoption and use of gaming applications on Starknet.
NFT prices fall despite ETH surge
In other news, prices of top non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have fallen even as Ethereum (ETH) prices have risen to their highest in two years. Despite a roughly 5% increase in the price of ETH above $4,000, the ETH denominated floor price for several top NFT collections on NFT marketplace Blur has fallen.
Crypto Creator Sells $1.3 Million in NFTs
Kevin Rose, co-creator of the Moonbirds NFT collection, has sold more than $1.3 million worth of NFTs, citing his belief that “cryptocurrencies will surpass NFTs.” Rose says mass adoption of NFTs is still a long way off, and he has been refining his NFT collection.
Other developments
Car manufacturer Nissan has digitized some of its old cars into the metaverse to teach traffic safety by incorporating mini-games about the driver’s vision and steering wheel turns. Additionally, there is speculation that the upcoming Bitcoin halving, which reduces mining rewards, could lead to a surge in NFT prices as interest in Bitcoin flows into the NFT world.
