Starknet Alpha v0.13.0 is expected to focus on two aspects of the protocol: Basically, the upgrade is meant to add a new transaction version v3 with features such as support for STRK, the blockchain platform’s gas token. V3 will also look to lower transaction fees on mainnet.
v0.13.0 was deployed to Goerli and Sepolia testnets on December 12 and 13, 2023, respectively.
Community interest in Starknet has surged since the project confirmed that an airdrop for STRK would take place in early 2024. The project announced a 50 million STRK reward program for ecosystem contributors in October. Last December, it announced that 10% of its network fees would be allocated to developers.
