According to the Sui Foundation, the Sui blockchain ecosystem has revealed the most popular projects of 2024, determined through a combination of performance indicators and community voting. These projects span a variety of infrastructure and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, reflecting the diversity and innovation within the Sui network.
Sui’s growth and innovation
Since the launch of the Sui mainnet in 2023, the blockchain has experienced significant growth, attracting record numbers of users to the platform. This influx has been driven by the success of various DeFi protocols, media services, NFT markets, and gaming applications. Many outstanding projects have launched on mainnet or gained viral popularity in 2024.
Key projects in the Sui ecosystem
Key projects include Walrus, a decentralized storage platform, and Sui Name Service, which simplifies blockchain addresses into human-readable handles. DeepBook, Sui’s first native liquidity layer, supports the DeFi ecosystem by facilitating market and limit order exchanges. Other notable projects such as Cetus, Suilend, and NAVI have also made significant contributions to the ecosystem by providing various DeFi services such as lending, staking, and liquidity provision.
Community and metrics-based selection
The process of selecting the top projects involved creating a list of 30 projects based on active user accounts and activity levels. Sui ambassadors and community members then took a survey via Discord to rank these projects. This approach ensured that both quantitative metrics and community sentiment were considered in the final rankings.
Top projects by active account
In addition to community voting, we evaluated the top 10 projects based on active account metrics. This metric is closely tied to transaction volume, providing a comprehensive view of user engagement across the network. Projects such as Wave Wallet, which combines wallet functionality and gaming, and FanTV, a video platform that challenges traditional media services, have stood out for their innovative use of the Sui blockchain.
Sui’s future prospects
As Sui completes its first year, blockchain continues to gain traction for its foundational services and DeFi protocols. In particular, the GameFi project has captured the attention of users and presents a promising future for new gaming applications. The Sui community eagerly anticipates additional innovations and project launches in the coming years, leveraging the scalability and performance of blockchain.
