Tether Operations Limited, a prominent player in the digital asset industry, has announced a strategic partnership with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) aimed at advancing blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) education in Vietnam. According to Tether.io, the initiative, which was unveiled on July 9, 2024, focuses on educating the general public through a series of conferences and workshops.
Goals of cooperation
This collaboration aims to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building within the blockchain industry. Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, VBA plays a key role in standardizing and promoting blockchain technology in Vietnam. The association is known for hosting educational events nationwide, which plays a key role in advocating blockchain education.
Vietnam’s Growing Cryptocurrency Landscape
In 2023, Vietnam will be the third largest cryptocurrency earner in the world, after the US and UK, with revenues of approximately $1.18 billion. Around 17% of the Vietnamese population owns or holds cryptocurrencies, showing that the country is highly engaged with digital assets. This widespread adoption is partly due to the use of cryptocurrencies to access banking services that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Key initiatives and programs
One of the key initiatives of this collaboration is to host five educational conferences in major cities such as Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City. These events aim to educate the community about the potential of digital finance.
In addition, Tether will support VBA’s UniTour program by developing educational content with the Academy of Blockchain and AI Innovation (ABAII). UniTour is a program designed for university students across Vietnam, aimed at igniting passion for AI and blockchain technologies. Tether will also support VBA’s SwitchUp Accelerator program, providing guidance, support, and potential investment for Web3 projects and startups.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “As a leading voice for blockchain adoption, the work of the Vietnam Blockchain Association aligns well with our mission to promote blockchain education. We are excited to work with VBA to educate the Vietnamese community about blockchain technology as a practical solution to the unique challenges they face.”
Phan Duc Trung, Executive Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Blockchain Association and Chairman of the ABAII Academy, added: “This strategic cooperation with Tether will make an important contribution to promoting blockchain education in Vietnam. We believe that through joint training and research programs, we will create comprehensive learning and development opportunities for the younger generation, helping them confidently enter the digital age and enhance their fintech knowledge.”

This collaboration is further supported by Tether EDU, a global educational initiative focused on cryptocurrency education within Tether.
