Tezos (XTZ) is leading the blockchain industry with its innovative staking model, offering unmatched accessibility, security, flexibility, and high rewards.

According to Tezos Spotlight, Tezos (XTZ) has established itself as a pioneer in the blockchain world by introducing a truly decentralized and efficient proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism. Many other blockchains, including Ethereum and Cardano, have followed in Tezos’ footsteps by adopting similar mechanisms.

Tezos has continuously improved its staking model to become one of the most accessible, secure, flexible, and rewarding systems. This article will delve into these key properties.

Accessibility: Barrier-free staking

Tezos stands out for its unrivaled accessibility. Unlike many other blockchains, Tezos does not impose a minimum staking requirement. This inclusiveness allows anyone to stake their tez (XTZ) in any amount they want, making it one of the most inclusive staking ecosystems in the blockchain space.

On the other hand, Ethereum requires 32 ETH to stake as a validator, which puts most users out of the question. Third-party services and staking derivatives can stake on Ethereum for smaller amounts, but these solutions often come at the cost of owning custody, requiring users to trust an intermediary.

Self Custody: Stake Safely from Your Wallet

Tezos staking is all about self-custody, meaning users always have full control of their funds. You can stake XTZ directly from your wallet without having to move it anywhere. Even if you use a hardware wallet like Ledger, you can stake tez while keeping it safely offline.

Unlike Ethereum, there is no need to send funds to the staking contract or trust a third party. Simply open your wallet, choose a baker (validator), and start earning rewards. As a new staker, rewards are automatically transferred directly to your wallet by the protocol, making the process simple and secure.

Higher Rewards: Why Tezos Staking Is More Profitable

Currently, Tezos offers an impressive ~16.5% APY for staking rewards, which is significantly higher than most other blockchains. In comparison:

  • Ethereum: 4–6%
  • Solana: 5–7%
  • Cardano: 3–6%

This increase is due to the latest protocol upgrade (ParisB) which introduced adaptive issuance and a new staking role. This updated model places greater emphasis on locked staking over delegation, doubling staker rewards compared to delegators.

Since many people have not yet switched to the new staking option, those who do are benefiting from higher rewards. This is not due to massive inflation, but rather to hidden opportunities that most people have not yet discovered.

Flexibility: Options for every staking preference

Tezos offers incredible flexibility in staking, with options to suit a variety of preferences and levels of commitment. Whether you want higher rewards or easy access to your funds, Tezos offers the following solutions:

  • Staking: For those looking to maximize their returns, staking offers significantly higher rewards, with double the APY earned through delegation. Tezos’ lock-up period is ~11 days (4 cycles), much shorter than other chains like Cosmos (21 days) and Polkadot (28 days).

  • delegation: If you want to maintain your XTZ liquidity, Tezos allows you to delegate your funds to a baker without locking them up. This allows you to participate in staking while maintaining the flexibility to withdraw or move your funds at any time, and still receive rewards for your liquidity balance.

The beauty of Tezos staking is that you are not locked into just one approach. You can lock up a portion of your XTZ for higher yields and delegate the rest of your balance to maintain liquidity, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds. This kind of flexibility is hard to find in other blockchain ecosystems and makes Tezos truly unique.

Tezos has perfected the staking system, offering the ideal combination of accessibility, control, great rewards, and flexibility. Offering options to suit all staking preferences, Tezos allows users to benefit from one of the most rewarding and flexible staking models without having to participate or intervene as much as they want. And with a solid ~16.5% APY, there’s no better time to jump in.
