BitPay’s new Bill Pay solution allows you to pay all kinds of bills with cryptocurrency. Pay your credit cards with Bitcoin, your mortgage with Litecoin, and your student loans with Ethereum, all without a bank account. Follow our step-by-step guide on how to pay your bills with cryptocurrency.

How to pay your bills with cryptocurrency

Paying almost any bill with cryptocurrency is quick and simple, and you can get started by following a few simple steps.

Step 1: Download the BitPay app and set up your wallet

Download our free app for Android and iOS devices. BitPay wallet is self-managed. This means that only you control your money. Easily create a wallet to pay bills or import wallets/keys generated from other popular self-managed wallet applications such as Metamask, Exodus Trust Wallet, and Coinbase Wallet.

Alternatively, you can pay your bill from your browser on the BitPay website. Log in to your BitPay account and navigate to the Bill Pay tab within your personal dashboard.

Step 2: Link your account

In the BitPay app, tap the ‘Payments’ tab and then tap ‘Bills.’ If you are a new BitPay user, you will be asked to provide basic KYC information. Your information will be used to link your billing account to your cryptocurrency wallet.

If you use the BitPay website, follow the instructions in the Bill Pay tab to add a bill.

Step 3: Pay your bill with your preferred cryptocurrency

Once your bill is connected, the provider, due date, balance, and other bill details will appear in the app. Select a bill, tap “Pay Bill” and enter the amount you want to pay. Then select your desired cryptocurrency and confirm payment. It’s that easy.

What cryptocurrencies can I use to pay my bills?

With BitPay, you can use Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin on the Lightning Network, Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Polygon (MATIC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and Litecoin to send your crypto directly to your bills. You can make currency payments. (LTC), XRP (XRP), Dai (DAI), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Gemini USD (GUSD), USD Coin (USDC), PayPal USD (PYUSD), Binance USD (BUSD), ApeCoin (APE) and Eurocoin (Eurok). Which wallet can I use to pay my bills?

Bills can be paid in the BitPay Wallet app or online on the BitPay website using your favorite cryptocurrency wallet application. Since BitPay Wallet is a self-custodial wallet app, self-custodial wallets created through alternative wallet providers can be imported into the BitPay app using a 12/24 word seed phrase. You can use assets from the imported wallet to pay your bills right from the app.

Alternatively, you can pay your bill through the BitPay website, which has over 100 compatible wallets. Simply sign up and connect your bills. Once you create an account and connect your invoices, an invoice will be created that you can pay using your preferred wallet.
