Vitalik Buterin, co -founder of Ether Leeum, has made news again with a big donation to a Swiss project called Zuitzerland. According to the report, ISLA, a WEB3 researcher who develops the project, received a 274 ETH of about $ 500,000 from Buterin. Donation was confirmed by Onchain Lens, a blockchain monitoring site that tracks fund transmission.
This stage is not surprising for anyone who knows Buter’s charity and experimental association. Zuitzerland is a product of the previous Zuzalu experiment of buterin, and the purpose is to integrate people with the same thoughts and to participate in the proposal for technology, longevity and distributed systems.
Ether Leeum Donation: What is Zuitzerland?
The Zuitzerland Initiative is based on the idea that started in the Zuzalu experiment, a short -term community project that Buterin started in Montenegro between March and May 2023. Zuzalu gathered about 200 participants who worked together and lived together for two months. They exchanged ideas and organized their teams together in workshops, discussions and social gatherings.

Zuitzerland develops this concept further by hosting residences, hacker tones and events throughout the city for those with common interests. This platform emphasizes the development of cooperation between “thinker and architect”. Buterin is not one of the founders of this project, but it is referred to as speakers and curators on the official site, indicating his support and participation.
Funds through token sales
Burterin’s donation has been partially raised by selling tokens received as a gift from other encryption projects. According to the whole chain statistics, Burterin sold 5,000 DOHRNII (DHN) tokens for $ 93,882 and 2 trillion LEDOG (DOG) tokens on March 31, 2025. The proceeds of the sale were sent to ISLA to 274 ETH after counting.

This is not the first time Buterin has ever sold his talents to him. In 2022 he sold SHIBA INU (Shib) tokens to the Covid-19 Relief Fund in India. Buterin also publicly urged the token to provide a token instead of directly to the charity.
History of token donation
DHN token’s developer DOHRNII Labs sent 10,000 tokens to Buterin in January 2025. Similarly, LEDOG developers sent 10 trillion tokens to him in August 2024, which are generally a marketing strategy for visibility, but they are generally a vote of gratitude. Buterin has gradually sold this token over time by using donations and funds for other goods.
Currently, buterin still maintains 2 trillion tokens depending on the data of the blockchain. Nevertheless, his actions show a clear direction to use such assets to help initiatives such as Zuitzerland, which matches his belief in decentralized governance and innovation led by the community.
