Last summer, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Binance, alleging that they listed and traded unregistered securities in various cryptocurrencies. This week, the regulator’s legal team faced a back-and-forth in court as the companies argued that the SEC had failed to assert that the cryptocurrencies were securities.
