Motorsports game studio Grease Monkey Games, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has released Update 10 for its flagship drift racing simulator Torque Drift 2 (TD2). The game is available on PC via the Epic Games Store. With over 400,000 downloads, the game is a key part of the Motorverse ecosystem and, according to Animoca Brands, uses REVV tokens to purchase premium cars and parts.
New additions and features
Update 10 introduces several new gameplay elements, including the iconic Daikoku track, an expanded car lineup featuring legendary models like the Toyota AE86 and Mazda RX3, and vehicles driven by pro drifters like Adam LZ, Odi Bakchis, Chris Forsberg, Sammit, and the RTR Ford Mustang Team. There are also new performance part tuning options.
This update follows the successful Early Access Update 9, which introduced new in-game virtual currency, Freestyle mode, multiplayer leaderboards, and an in-game store. Update 10 brings back a beloved feature from Torque Drift 1, the Lead and Chase challenges, giving players a thrilling professional drifting experience.
Lead and Chase Challenge
In the Lead event, the gamer aims to set the highest score before the timer runs out or the finish line is crossed, earning drift achievements and passing clipping points and zones. In the Chase event, the player competes against a set lead and must beat the score by replicating their moves and earning achievements such as “Tandem” and “Door Dive.”
Expanded car lineup and Pro Car bundles
Torque Drift 2 Update 10 expands the car lineup with new vehicles like the Toyota AE86 and Mazda RX3. Players can now purchase Pro Car Bundles, which include cars driven by professional drifters. These bundles include fully equipped cars, parts, a custom keychain, and a bobblehead.
Players can use REVV tokens to purchase limited edition cars and parts in the game, and receive a 30% discount on limited edition Nissan and Subaru cars. REVV tokens can be earned in-game, and staked through the Motorverse Hub to receive perks such as in-game benefits and fan experiences.
New events and customization options
Update 10 also introduces the Events tab and Scheduler, creating a dynamic gameplay area with new daily events and challenges. Players will be given score targets, tracks, layouts, and cars for different events, allowing them to diversify their gameplay.
This update offers a wide range of customization options through performance parts tuning. Players can improve their vehicles with turbo, engine, gearbox, angle kits and ECU modifications. New body kits, including Liberty Walk, are available for further customization and personalization.
“With Update 10, we’re delivering the most advanced drifting experience the world has ever seen,” said Arran Potter, CEO of Grease Monkey Games. “With the addition of the new Lead & Chase Challenge and the iconic Daikoku Track, we’re delivering a more realistic and authentic racing environment, giving gamers new ways to drive and customize their cars.”
Building a vibrant ecosystem
Since its initial release in Early Access in October 2023, Torque Drift 2 has been downloaded by over 400,000 players. The game offers extensive profile and garage customization options, realistic car physics, and performance tuning for your PC peripherals, providing a “play the way you want” experience.
Torque Drift 2 features numerous licensing partnerships with renowned motorsport organizations and car manufacturers including Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Formula DRIFT, Konig, and Mishimoto, with more partnerships expected to be added in the future.
In 2022, Animoca Brands and Grease Monkey Games partnered with Formula DRIFT, the popular American motorsports drifting series. This partnership is further developed with the addition of the RTR Mustang Team Car Bundle in Update 10, allowing players to drive the same cars featured in Formula DRIFT.
