Bloomberg reports that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump asked attendees of an upcoming Bitcoin conference to pay $844,600 to attend the roundtable, citing an email invitation sent by an anonymous attendee.
The invitation appears to be part of a private fundraising effort for the Bitcoin 2024 conference, which will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25-27, where President Trump is scheduled to speak.
In addition to paying nearly $1 million for the roundtable, individuals can pay $60,000 and couples can pay $100,000 for a photoshoot. Trump’s vice presidential candidates Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) are also expected to attend the fundraiser, Bloomberg added. Only 150 donors will be allowed to attend the event, after which attendees will have a front-row seat to Trump’s Bitcoin speech at the conference.
Trump has taken a more positive stance on cryptocurrencies in the first half of 2024. In mid-July, he said the U.S. should overtake China and become a leader in the crypto industry. Vance is also a crypto supporter, and the Ohio senator wants to change the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT21) to better impact the crypto industry. It was recently revealed that Vance holds $100,000 worth of Bitcoin.
According to The Block Prices, Bitcoin was trading at $63,604.58 as of 4:23 p.m. ET (8:23 p.m. UTC) on July 18, down 1.52% over the last 24 hours.
