The new CLO took on the top legal job at the startup behind Uniswap on Monday, according to a post on X. Her appointment comes just two months after the Securities and Exchange Commission signaled it may take legal action against Uniswap Labs for allegedly violating federal securities laws. .
“It’s impossible to spend time in the cryptocurrency space and not be inspired by DeFi’s potential to change the world,” Minarik told X on Monday. “I am humbled to take on this new role at Uniswap Labs, fighting for economic inclusion and a financial future for all of us.”
Minarik joins Uniswap Labs after four years at Coinbase, where he most recently served as Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel. She is filling the position of former Uniswap Labs CLO Marvin Ammori, who said Monday he plans to move to a part-time position at the startup in November.
Minarik will have her work cut out for her in the coming months. Last April, the SEC issued a Wells Notice to Uniswap Labs, notifying it that it may take enforcement action against the startup. In the notice, the SEC accused Uniswap Labs’ protocol of operating as an unregistered stock exchange and other regulatory charges.
