Uniswap (UNI), a leading decentralized exchange protocol, has announced an exciting opportunity for the cryptocurrency community with the v4 Address Mining Challenge. This initiative invites participants to contribute to the final steps before the release of Uniswap v4 by helping to select distribution addresses according to the Uniswap protocol.
Challenge Details
The Uniswap v4 Address Mining Challenge started on November 10, 2024 and will run until December 1, 2024. Participants are encouraged to mine and submit potential contract addresses for v4 core contracts. Official distribution address selection criteria focus on the number of leading zeros and the importance of the number 4 in the address structure.
Uniswap v4 is a significant evolution of the Uniswap protocol, turning it into a versatile developer platform. Introduces new market structures and assets, providing increased customization and cost efficiencies. v4’s architecture is optimized for gas savings, pool creation is expected to be 99.99% cheaper, and users will benefit from reduced multi-hop swap costs.
How to Participate
Participants can leverage the CREATE2 function to generate deterministic addresses using the initcode hash for Uniswap v4, the distributor address, and a salt of the user’s choice. You can use tools like create2crunch to generate salts corresponding to candidate addresses and submit them to the challenge smart contract on the Ethereum mainnet. The contract scores and ranks addresses in real time through a leaderboard that tracks scores as entries are submitted.
The scoring criteria are as follows:
- 10 points for each leading 0 nibble
- 40 points for an address starting with four consecutive 4s
- 20 points if the first nibble after four 4s is not a 4
- 20 points if the last 4 nibbles are all 4
- 1 point for every 4 different places in your address
Submission and Verification
Participants may submit multiple unique addresses during the challenge. To ensure submission security, we recommend setting the first 20 bytes of the salt to the Ethereum address executing the submission. Submissions will be verified through a challenge contract and the address with the highest score will be selected as the winner. In case of a tie, the first submission takes precedence.
The winning address will forever remain the official Uniswap v4 distribution address at the end of the challenge and marks an important milestone in the development of the protocol. To view submissions and scores in real time, participants can follow the v4 Address Mining Challenge leaderboard.
