Upland, a web3 strategy game with over 3 million accounts, distributed over $13.5 million to players’ PayPal accounts in December 2023.
In a press release, Upland said this represents a commitment to providing real value to players through virtual experiences.
Players can earn money through gameplay, strategic investments, and creations within Upland. This can be converted to Upland’s in-game currency (UPX) or withdrawn directly to USD via PayPal.
These payments were processed through Upland’s partnership with Tilia, a payments platform designed specifically for the GameFi industry. Their participation has helped Upland bridge the gap between the virtual and real worlds.
Additionally, Upland complied with U.S. regulations to provide a safe and trustworthy environment for users to explore metaverse opportunities.
Upland plans to launch Sparklet on Ethereum in the first quarter of 2024.
“Upland is a leading entrepreneur and creator economy hub in the web3,” said Dirk Lueth, co-founder and co-CEO of Upland. “With over 3 million registered users and the largest active engagement in the industry, we have built a thriving and engaging digital economy. “This latest milestone reflects the strength of our peer-to-peer community and demonstrates the power and true ownership of GameFi.”
Upland’s success has included notable partnerships with FIFA, the NFL Players Association, UNICEF Brasil and Susan G. Komen.
The platform also recently launched Totem and raised an additional $7 million in the fourth quarter of 2023.
