Girl in Verse Podcast

Cryptocurrency value is $6 trillion. Few places have estate plans. I’m with Wasim Ahmad, co-founder of Vault12, live from the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas to talk about the crisis no one is talking about in the cryptocurrency industry. In other words, we’re talking about what actually happens to your digital assets when you’re gone. Your wallet will not be unlocked at your will. Your family cannot call you Bitcoin. And writing down your seed phrase anywhere creates a security risk where all your information could be leaked overnight. Vault12 was created to solve this very problem. Quantum-safe encryption secures your encryption legacy without storing anything in the cloud, on your device, or on paper, ensuring your family is protected and your assets remain safe until you actually need them.

This is a conversation every cryptocurrency holder should be having. And it starts here.

Girl In Bus:

Hello, this is Girl in the Verse. I attended the Bitcoin 2026 conference in Las Vegas. Today we’re with Wasim Ahmad from Vol 12. We’re going to be talking about this great legacy that we’re talking about.

Wasim Ahmad:

It’s really amazing. A total of $64 trillion worth of assets will be transferred to the next generation of asset owners and investors, of which $6-7 trillion will be cryptocurrency assets.

Girl In Bus:

It’s huge. That’s not a small number. $7T cryptocurrency. And we are talking about the younger generation. So what does this mean for us cryptocurrencies, especially for young people, we never think about the future. I don’t know why. We have no idea what will happen to all these cryptocurrencies I will inherit. What should I do with it?

Wasim Ahmad:

Well, you can do whatever you want, but I hope you can keep it for a long time. But you need to make sure it’s protected, secure, private, and secure. And if something happens to you, if you die, if you have an accident, or if you become incapacitated in any way, your family will have access to those assets in the future, and there will be a way for them to receive those assets.

Girl In Bus:

And you are making it. Is Vault12 building this?

Wasim Ahmad:

Well, we are pioneers in cryptocurrency inheritance. We started 10 years ago. In fact, my CEO Max was part of Andreessen Horowitz and helped Coinbase raise funding from A16Z. So at that time, he realized that if Coinbase was very successful, there would be all these consumers holding cryptocurrencies. At that time it was Bitcoin. And the security model of cryptocurrency is that it must be protected. No one will secure it for you. And obviously later on we saw a ton of other cryptocurrencies coming in. So he actually started Vault 12 at that time, and in 2019 we had the app and put it on the Google and Apple app stores. Since then we’ve had about 400,000 people download it. It allows people to create a digital vault and put all the information they need to access those assets.

So you can record a video of your wallet seed phrase, your private key, or a riddle like what are the 12 seed phrase words. It can be any digital information. And you can designate who will receive that information when the time comes. Information in the Digital Vault is encrypted. It will be broken into pieces and sent to friends, family, and professionals you work with who will protect some of your assets. They won’t know what it is. It’s not the same as multi-signature and is very flexible. There may be 9 people, 3 family members, 3 friends, and 3 professionals. And three of them said, ‘Okay. You can access it. You can say, ‘I have access to the seed phrase, and I can do all kinds of things with it.’

Girl In Bus:

This reminds me of the meme where people are digging through hardware wallets in the park and thinking, “I’ll let the family figure it out later, but this is a much better option.”

Wasim Ahmad:

huh. There are many reasons. Therefore, burying your seed phrase is not a good idea as you may never find it again. Putting it in the cloud is not a good idea. This is not because the cloud is necessarily insecure, but because it is rarely operated by the companies that purchase access to it. So if they drop out or the business changes, you may not be able to access those assets. And there are some people I know who have ledger devices around their necks, especially at Bitcoin conferences. Again, being a local device, it can be lost or stolen. Again, not a good idea. So you want something, and you want a way to store that information in a way that keeps it private so no one can comb through it. It makes no sense to give information to a lawyer in an office somewhere, but it’s not in the cloud either.

There will be no accidental loss or deletion or anything of the kind. This is Vault 12. It’s an app that creates a digital safe, and the beauty of this app is that if you lose your phone, you can recreate the safe on another phone.

Girl In Bus:

i like it. It’s very simple. i like it. Let’s talk about this Clarity Act. We are in America and everyone is waiting for this Clarity Act. Everyone is hoping that one zipper will come through and things will change for many people. What happens in Vault 12?

Wasim Ahmad:

So, I think the most important thing about the Clarity Act for Vault 12 customers is that if passed, it will usher in an era of cryptocurrency consumers in the coming weeks. Until now, at conferences like this, we’ve loved talking about institutions and institutional investing, but we’re at a peak now. We are at the beginning of the cryptocurrency consumer journey, and I predict hundreds of millions of new cryptocurrency consumers will enter the space. They will come in not because some cryptocurrency exchanges have expanded their customer base, but because banks, retail banks, can offer cryptocurrency mortgages and cryptocurrency accounts just like they offer stock trading on their platforms. Maybe it’s Coinbase providing this behind the scenes, but it will have the bank’s logo on it. And because of that, consumers will start accumulating cryptocurrencies because they generally trust their banks.

And once they start accumulating cryptocurrency, I’ll have to think about what happens when I pass away and how I can make sure this gets passed on to my children. For that, Vault 12 is perfect, but the market will grow and it will be a 10-year growth journey, but we haven’t seen it yet. So this is a new era and I’m very excited to see it.

Girl In Bus:

I’m also really happy because, as you said, we’ve been calling for regulation. We are tired of feeling like what are we going to do with cryptocurrency, can we use it and pay for it, or will people accept it? And now there’s a chance it’ll be easy.

Wasim Ahmad:

It’s just normal. They won’t even call it a cryptocurrency.

Girl In Bus:

Thank you so much, Wasim. Where can I learn more about Vault 12, and where can I sign up and participate?

Wasim Ahmad:

huh. Obviously, we’re using

Girl In Bus:

Thank you very much.

Wasim Ahmad:

thank you
