The web3 open world shooting game “MetalCore” has been released on the blockchain Immutable zkEVM.
“MetalCore” is now the first game playable on blockchain. According to the official release, the game is undergoing a second closed beta period from April 9 to April 22 with a limited number of players. ‘Metal Core’ plans to release an open beta version by the end of 2024. It will be released on PC through the Epic Games Store, which sells other popular games such as Fortnite.
“During our first closed beta, we saw first-hand just how interested people were in our game, evidenced by the fact that our top players completed over 800 missions and achieved over 13,000 total kills,” said Matt Candler, CEO of Studio 369. “He said. “Now we’re bringing more new players into the MetalCore universe, as more than 40% of our Day-1 users are new to the game.”
“MetalCore” is free-to-play and is set in a future where warring factions fight for resources in outer space. Users choose which faction to join by competing against other players or the environment. Cryptocurrency MCG supports “MetalCore”, although players can omit the web3 element. Players can earn MCG and convert their coins into NFTs. The game has another in-game currency called “Marks” that can be earned through in-game contracts, social quests, and participation in the game’s guild system.
Immutable zkEVM should not be confused with Immutable X. Both blockchains were developed by web3 infrastructure company Immutable, but Immutable zkEVM supports smart contracts, providing EVM ZK rollups for games powered by Polygon. Immutable X is provided by Starkware and does not support smart contracts. Immutable
The Block previously reported that “MetalCore’s” developer Studio 369 raised $5 million in funding in March 2024 from Delphi Digital, Bitkraft Ventures, Sanctor Capital, and Spartan Group.
