The World App wallet has users in more than 160 countries, including 2 million daily active users, the wallet’s maker, Tools for Humanity (TFH), said in a statement Thursday. The user growth coincides with the launch of a new data management tool for users of Worldcoin, an iris-enabled biometric cryptocurrency project founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
“We are of course very excited about the milestone, but even more so about the real-world impact it represents,” TFH product director Tiago Sada said in a statement Thursday.
The wallet recorded an average of 7.1 transactions per second, meaning transaction speeds were roughly comparable to those of the most popular self-managed wallets, TFH said.
The World App was launched in May 2023 and had nearly 4 million downloads by November of that year. According to data from TFH, the World App has processed a total of more than 70 million wallet transactions since launch.
The wallet’s growth comes as Worldcoin introduced two new privacy features on Thursday. Mechanism to revoke privileges for World ID through permanent iris code deletion and direct age verification at each human identity verification location.
