Worldcoin (WLD) announced the introduction of World ID of Verification in Ecuador, starting with the cities of Quito and Guayaquil. The move is an important step in the company’s mission to strengthen online human verification and combat the growing threat of bot-based fraud and misinformation.
Global support for human verification
The launch in Ecuador comes amid growing global support for humanness technology demonstrations. According to Worldcoin, recent surveys have highlighted widespread acceptance of such technologies. In Spain, 82% of the 21,000 World ID holders surveyed agreed that it is important to distinguish between humans and bots online. Similarly, in Portugal, 77% of 19,000 respondents supported Worldcoin’s positive impact on digital interactions.
Latin America Survey Results
This trend is also reflected in Latin America. A survey conducted in Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Colombia by Worldcoin donor Tools for Humanity (TFH) shows clear international support for technology to prove humanity online.
- In Ecuador, 92% of respondents support technology-based solutions to distinguish between humans and bots online.
- In Peru, 90% of more than 800 respondents wanted a similar technology-based solution.
- Additionally, 84% of Peruvians consider mechanisms to distinguish between machines and humans as “essential” for the future.
- In Colombia, 71% of respondents are concerned about the potential for increased fraud and misinformation due to more persuasive online bots.
- In Mexico, 75% of nearly 1,000 respondents feel safer consuming human-generated content online.

The deployment of World ID in Ecuador is part of a broader strategy to improve the safety and reliability of digital interactions. Worldcoin aims to reduce the spread of fraud and misinformation spread by bots by providing a trusted means of verifying human identities online.
